:John Edwards is unlikely to endorse either Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton before the nomination is decided, according to interviews with several members of the former candidate's inner circle.
Do you think he is not endorsing one of the candidates because he is egoistic and wants to have a "job for sure" when the race will be over ?

I don't think he needs a job, as he is known for being an excellent lawyer - he was torn between running for president/VP and his wifes health and both have lost a son. From what I read and know about him, he listens to all advice but decides completely on his own ( with his wife). I wouldn't be surprised, if he tries to convince Hillary to call it quits and as others suggested might "act" as the (Gore etc) eldery within the DNC to prevent that the party might beak apart.
